"To BE or NOT to be fascist?" that is the -- obvious -- question
🛑🤓Just checking in: Did we ever clear up the whole "basic conflation of what it means to be 'pro-' or 'anti-' a thing", that was deliberately propagandized by fascists in the last few years?
To be "anti-" something is to be against it. If you aren't against it, you are FOR it.
It's really important we don't just leave this be, and we instead check in on (especially) those members of the U.S. public who were manipulated into this nonsensically absurd gaslighting about the meaning of two exceptionally basic words, indicating their stance.
Can't believe I have to say this, but only fascist media propagandizes the idea that being anti-fascist is wrong.
To think that — so seemlessly — the transnational and global media landscape was able to contaminate the public's imaginary, reversing meanings of basic things is A BIG RED FLAG.
The fact they could remove a "-" and knock off 5 letters at the end of the word "fascist," and sway a mass audience into believing that being anti-fascist is wrong, speaks volumes about the U.S. public's malleability.
If you’ve ever thought to yourself,
“Wow, how could the Nazis have done that?!”
Linguistically, this IS HOW, this kind of manipulation is — exactly — HOW.
I'm with you on how anyone can be AGAINST being AGAINST fascism or "anti-fascist/anti-fa". Sorry but my grandfather didn't go to Europe in WWII to fight FOR the fascists. He was on the side that was against them, hence anti-fascist. Western propaganda and media is so diabolical at times.
